If you are a precinct delegate, a candidate, an elected official or MDP (Michigan Democratic Party) member, you are invited to attend and vote on the First Congressional District Delegation to the Democratic National Convention. (Note: precinct delegates, candidates and elected officials may register to become MDP members the day of the convention; all others must already be MDP members as of May 3, 2012)
The 1st District Democratic District Convention will take place at the Little Bear East Arena in St. Ignace. Registration is at 9am with the convention proceedings starting at 10am.
This convention is for COUNTY PARTIES IN THE CURRENT FIRST DISTRICT - if you are part of the redistricted First, please get details on your convention(s) in the area you are CURRENTLY IN.

Second phase of selecting Michigan delegates to the Democratic National Convention:
(Michigans total delegation will have 203 Delegates, 13 Alternates, 18 Convention Committee members and 5 Pages.)
The delegation will be selected in 3 steps:
First, on Saturday, May 5, 2012, people can attend a Presidential Caucus in the county where they live to vote
for their preferred candidate for President. Delegates to the National Convention will be apportioned among the
presidential candidates based on the total vote for each presidential candidate from caucus sites.
Then, on June 2, 2012, 122 delegates and 10 alternates will be elected at 15 Congressional District
Conventions based on the results of the May 5, 2012 Caucuses.
Finally, on June 23, 2012, based on the results of the May 5, 2012 Caucuses, 61 delegates, 3 alternates, 18
Convention Committee members and 5 pages will be selected at a meeting of the Democratic State Central
All of these elected delegates, alternates, committee members and pages, together with 20 super-delegates –
Michigan's 8 Federal lawmakers and 12 Democratic National Committee Members – will make up Michigan's
delegation to the National Convention.
